The Fourth World Movement was invited to New York City’s Lower East Side in 1964 as part of the US’s War on Poverty.
Today, through the Street Library program, we are developing community partnerships in a central Brooklyn neighborhood,
while members in other parts of the city remain involved through cultural outings, family vacations, and public events.
The Fourth World House in Manhattan remains a central place for gatherings and discussion forums among members from
different backgrounds from throughout the city. New York members continue to take a special role in reinforcing our
international dialogue with the United Nations.
